Our Riding Instructor

Whitney Mulqueen is a carded licensed Horse Show Judge for USEF, USHJA, NSBA, and OHSA in Hunters and Jump Seat Equitation (Will be carded with UDJC in Spring of 2026). Whitney is available for judging nationally and is currently booking for 2026/2027. You can also experience Clinics by Whitney Mulqueen for enhanced learning opportunities.

With over 35 years of combined expertise in riding, teaching, judging, and showing, Whitney excels in coaching by Whitney Mulqueen, helping her students achieve technical correctness in the saddle. At Celtic Crest Farm, both children and adults are taught at all levels in our program. Whitney has been judging USEF, USHJA, NSBA, Open, 4-H, and local schooling horse shows for over 30 years, offering top-notch Horse Show Coaching by Whitney Mulqueen.

Quality Riding Instruction

At Celtic Crest Farm, we embrace a learning environment that prepares both children and adults for pleasure, competition, and beyond. Under the guidance of Whitney Mulqueen, we methodically teach various riding levels to build strength and confidence in our students. Whitney emphasizes the fundamentals of proper flat work rooted in Classical English Horsemanship, focusing on the essential balance between horse and rider. Once students master proper flat work, they have the option to advance to Jumping. While we do not pressure students to compete, we thoroughly enjoy offering Horse Show Coaching by Whitney Mulqueen for those who feel confident and ready to showcase their skills at horse shows.

Policies for Horseback Riding Lessons & Packages:

All lesson packages purchased must be pre-paid and are non-refundable. Please note that any lessons not used in a package are also non-refundable.

Cancellation Policy:

A 24-hour notice is required when canceling a horseback riding lesson; otherwise, you will be charged the full price of the lesson. This policy is in place because a late cancellation prevents someone else from taking your spot.

Our Mission

At Celtic Crest Farm, our students' safety and learning are our top priority. Our focus is on building confidence at each level of horsemanship through Clinics By Whitney Mulqueen. We work closely to educate students on the hows and whys of our training system, including Coaching by Whitney Mulqueen. Additionally, if students wish, we will teach them how to groom and tack up horses before their lessons, enhancing their overall experience, especially in preparation for Horse Show Coaching by Whitney Mulqueen and Judging by Whitney Mulqueen.

Carol Molony 2 Day Clinic 9/19 & 9/20

We are excited to announce the first of a series of clinics at Celtic Crest Farm in the Capital District Horse Community. We are honored to have Carol Molony, an ‘R’ USEF Judge with over 40 years of experience, leading a two-day clinic on September 19th and 20th. Spaces will be limited and are available on a first come, first serve basis. The first day will focus on the flat phase, while the second day will include over fences work, featuring gymnastics and course work. Each day will be organized into levels, including sections for Green horses, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced riders for both adults and children.

Carol Molony is a highly respected USEF ‘R’ judge who has judged major horse shows such as the Pennsylvania National, Lake Placid Horse Show, Washington International, New England Equitation Championships, and the USET Finals on both coasts. As one of the leading trainers in the area and the former owner of Stony Creek Farm in North Salem, NY, Carol's riders and horses consistently qualify for prestigious events across the northeast, including the National Horse Show, Devon, and the Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

In 1962, Carol made history by winning both the Maclay and the Medal Finals at Madison Square Garden on consecutive days, riding a borrowed horse she had only competed with the previous weekend. In recognition of her contributions, Carol was inducted into the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame in 2010. Alongside her judging and teaching roles, Carol is actively involved in the U.S. Equestrian Federation, the Professional Horsemen’s Association, and the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association, and she supports the intercollegiate program.

Each session of the clinic will be limited to five riders and will last one hour. The fee for each session is $125 per rider per day, and riders can choose to participate in either the flat or over fences work, or both.
